My Mexican Heritage has always been a key component of my identity, and I hold a lot of pride knowing there's a part of me that comes from a country as beautiful as México. Although I haven't kept in contact with my family for some time now, I have always made an effort to seek out community and stay connected to my culture. In recent years, finding and understanding my own place in the community has become very important to me. 

Originally, this was my protest sign for the No Kings Protest during this recent Summer. Staying up-to-date with the state of our country and what that means for so many people has brought me to tears many times. What's going on in this country right now is wrong, and if you align yourself with anti-immigration policy, I ask you to reconnect with the empathy that the rest of us learned back in like second grade. 

Immigrants MAKE this country great. From art, to labor, to culture, to economy, to so much more, Immigrants have functioned as a backbone. Instead of receiving appreciation, acknowledgment, or even human decency, they have been mocked, demonized, and ultimately legislated against due to misinformation that stems from prejudice and racism.
